Edington Arts is launching its 2017 programme with the first concert by a string sextet, The Chamber Players of St John, on Saturday 25th March at 7.30pm in Edington Priory Church .
After the sextet’s performance later this month, the village arts has another four events already planned for the year.
The Chamber Players of St John is composed of principal players from the London and Oxfordshire-based Orchestra of St John. Two violins, two violas and two cellos make a sumptuous sound, and the programme shows off the repertoire and the musicianship of the players to perfection. Lovely, melodic chamber works by Richard Strauss, Borodin and Brahms will make for a rewarding concert.
The Chamber Players have performed at various festivals in the UK, and have toured Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg and Spain. Individually the players have performed with the Academy of St Martins in the Fields, the English Chamber Orchestra, the Royal Ballet Orchestra, the London Philharmonic, and various quartets, including appearing in Dustin Hoffman’s film ‘Quartet’.
