Residents are being invited to enjoy views across Westbury next weekend as All Saints’ Church opens its tower for special guided tours.
The tours will take place on Saturday 20th September, between 1pm and 4pm.
Visitors will be able to climb the 106 steps to the rooftop of the tower of All Saints’ Church and enjoy views over Westbury to the White Horse.
Members of the bell ringing team will be on hand to talk about the eight bells that hang in the tower, which is the third heaviest peal in the world. There will also be an opportunity to view the workings of a 17th century chiming clock.
“We are always pleased to be able to welcome visitors into our church,” said Revd Rebecca Harris. “We hope lots of people will come along to take advantage of this rare opportunity to explore the tower and enjoy the views from the roof.”
Entry to the tower will be £4.50 per adult and £1 per child. Doors open at 12.45pm and the last tour is at 3.45pm. All proceeds will go towards the work of the church and the upkeep of the Grade I listed building.
