More than 170 teams from across the Southwest and Midlands gathered for the 22nd Westbury Youth Football Club Tournament and Festival of Football from 19th – 21st June at Matravers School
A five-a-side festival of football was held for U7s and U8s, a six-a-side tournament for U9s to U13s and U11s to U14s girls, and a five-a-side tournament for U14s to U17 and 18s.
Tournament director Greg Coulson said, “It has been an absolutely fabulous weekend of football, with teams across the South West and a team from Coventry entering multiple age groups.
“There has been a massive effort from a great number of people at the club. We have had such positive feedback from coaches and parents about how it has been run and the kids love it. It’s a good day out for them and the weather has been very kind to us again this year.
“We (and probably other youth football teams) need a successful tournament to future proof our club so that we can provide the kids of Westbury a safe and secure environment to play football with FA qualified coaches. We promise to make next year even better.”
Matthew Bright, chairman of Westbury Youth Football Club said, “This event is only made possible by the various committee members and parents, especially the tournament directors, Martin Pearce and Greg Coulson, who volunteer their time to help out with the preparations for and running of the tournament, so I would like to personally thank them for their efforts over this weekend and the past months.
“We are grateful to Matravers school for the continued support of our Tournament in using their playing field again this year.
“A big thank you goes to our various sponsors whose support for the tournament and throughout the season is so vital to our club.”
