WESTBURY Group Practice Patient Participation Group is raising awareness of missed appointments at the surgery.
In December 2013, 421 patients failed to attend an appointment with a doctor or nurse. This equates to 70 hours and 15 minutes of wasted appointment time.
Chair of the Patient Participation Group, Shelagh Carpenter commented, “I repeatedly hear complaints that patients are unable to get appointments. The high number of non-attendees means that the problem is increased. If you know in advance that you will be unable to keep the booked time, please call 01373 828330 to cancel so that another patient may be offered the appointment in place of you. In this way, the valuable time of doctors and nurses is maximised to the full.”
There is additionally an online facility for patients to book appointments and make cancellations.
