AS part of Westbury Animal Action Day, RSPCA Wiltshire Mid Branch is offering free mircochipping for Westbury dogs and cats at Paragon Hall on Saturday 2nd April from 10am until 3pm.
There’s less than a month to go until it will be a legal requirement to have your pet dog microchipped – and your local RSPCA branch is offering to help you out with free microchipping for dogs in the run-up to the microchipping law change.
From April 6th 2016, it will be a legal requirement to have your dog microchipped under the Microchipping of Dogs (England) Regulations 2015. Any dog over the age of eight weeks will be legally required to be microchipped and must also be registered to an approved database.
As part of the new law, it will also be a requirement for keepers and breeders of dogs to keep their registered details up-to-date.
The event is open to anyone from the local area and booking is not necessary. Although this is a free service organised by the branch and undertaken by trained volunteers and professionals, a donation to the service on the day would be greatly appreciated.
As well as free dog microchipping, the RSPCA Westbury Animal Action Day will include free neutering vouchers for cats, free worming and flea treatments, free professional advice for all pet owners, free ‘have a go’ puppy training sessions and organised children’s activities promoting animal welfare.
The event is supported by Harris Hill and Gibbons, a local veterinary surgery; Cats Protection and Wiltshire County Council.
