Westbury Youth Football Club recently hosted a team of players and coaches from Yeovil Town Ladies as part of the FA’s sponsored ‘Sister Club’ scheme.
Ellie Curson, Yeovil Town Ladies captain and a Welsh International, led the training for the girls’ section of Westbury Youth.
Players from u12 Allstars, u14 Belles and u16 Amazons enjoyed a full two-hour session of training at Meadow Lane, the home of Westbury United.
Club secretary Martin Pearce said, “The Sister Club scheme encourages girls into football and closer ties between FA Women’s Super League (FAWSL) teams and the local grass roots youth football clubs. Westbury Youth have already benefitted from a Sister Club tournament and free tickets for Yeovil Town Ladies home games.
“The training was followed by an open coaching session at Huish Park, which was attended by both players and coaches from Westbury Youth. On 6th November, Westbury Youth will take over Huish Park for Yeovil’s home game with Durham, providing ball girls, mascots and flag bearers.”
Ellie Curson, sister club programme officer and captain for Yeovil Town Ladies said, “Westbury Youth is a very proactive club which strives to improve and develop young players, and I am very much looking forward to supporting the club.”
