THE Inner Wheel Club of Westbury held a meeting at the Chalford House Hotel on 7th September where President Joanna welcomed everyone following the summer break in August.
Our speaker was Cameron Price, president Joanna’s grandson who talked to us about his IT studies at college and university. Members had taken the opportunity to bring their various devices to the meeting for advice and Cameron was happy to oblige. Valerie Sandoe gave the vote of thanks.
President Joanna thanked Maureen for her help in making the garden party, held at her home in July, a success and also Sheila and Marjorie for the cakes and scones. Also thanks to Annette for superbly organising the progressive lunch on 6th August and thanks to Ann Harvey for organising an evening meal at The Horse and Groom Pub.
President Joanna reported on the very enjoyable lunch Rotary president David Perkins and his wife Dee, had hosted at their home in Edington for Rotary and Inner Wheel members.
Rotary president David is keen for our club to be more involved with Rotary. Inner Wheel will be assisting Rotary at their International Cuisine Evening to be held on Saturday 11th November at The Laverton. The proposed theme this year is mountain ranges; the Alps, Andes, Pyrenees and Rockies.
Arrangements are also being made for the Inner Wheel bingo night to be held at the Leigh Park Community Hall on Friday 17th November at 7.30pm. All profits made will go to Julia’s House Children’s Hospice in Devizes, which serves the whole of Wiltshire. Members had attended an open day at Julia’s House the day before the meeting and found it truly inspiring. A representative from Julia’s House will be coming to speak to us at our November meeting.
