After nearly 50 years the Rainbow Playschool has moved location from the All Saints’ Church Hall to the Leigh Park Community Centre (LPCC).
The playschool says that it moved from the centre of Westbury as the church hall that it previously occupied had a variety of ongoing maintenance issues – the new home has a purpose-built preschool room, a fully undercover outdoor area and a sensory room.
“Sadly, due to All Saints’ Church Hall no longer being fit for purpose and repairs not being done in an appropriate timescale, and then half of the hall heating being condemned in April of 2022 with no repairs planned a year later, conversations with All Saints’ Church committee became unrealistic,” explained Rainbow Playschool.
“It was felt that relocation before the proposed refurbishment was the best and safest option for our children and our families. We have now moved to the LPCC where we now have a purpose-built preschool room, and we can make use of a large expansive hall which is situated beside the preschool room that can be accessed freely by the children through internal folding wall doors from the preschool room making the space large airy and bright!
“The children have access to a fully undercover outdoor area as well as a large outdoor space to the side of the building. We have focused on the preschool room to have a muted natural feel using natural and sustainable resources, and we have a very peaceful and tranquil sensory room where children can enjoy sensory experiences and a relaxed space for those times when children are seeking a little calm.”
Manager at the playschool Tracy Laird added, “Our children are just having the time of their lives playing and learning in a relaxed environment full of exploration and wonder which is so amazing as a manager to witness. Our parents’ feedback has been excellent, including new parents visiting who love the way we are using the environment and space”.
Rainbow Playschool is now open Monday to Friday for either full day sessions, 9am till 3pm including lunch club, or mornings 9am till 12pm/afternoons 12pm till 3pm term time only.
