FOLLOWING the club’s Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held on Tuesday 14th November, Greg Coulson has been appointed as the Chairman of Westbury United FC.
The chairman position had been vacant since Matt Bright stepped down at the beginning of October, along with some other key members of the committee. In line with its club constitution, an EGM was called by club secretary, Greg Coulson.
Greg put his name forward to hold both the chairman and the secretary roles at the club and was voted in unanimously by the club committee members. Westbury also voted in several more committee members, Mark Nickels took the vice-chairman post. Paul Mead, Nigel Mead, Mick King, Rob Houkes, Chris Andres and Peter Hoodless were all voted in, to give Westbury some great experience and enthusiasm on their committee.
The new chairman, Greg Coulson said, “I was blown away by the support I’d received over the previous weeks and the fact that everyone involved in the club encouraged me to step forward to take the role. The key to me taking the role was getting Mark Nickels involved and I was delighted when he stepped up for the vice-chairman position.”
Mark Nickels has been involved with Westbury United for many years as a player, as a committee member and as a supporter. He brings a lot of experience with him and is a respected member of the community.
The committee now has the numbers and more importantly, the experience and knowledge required, to push the club forward and continue the momentum that it has gained this season. With the games coming thick and fast, there are no big changes planned; the club’s ambition is to win promotion to the Toolstation Western League Premier Division, so all focus will be on providing the best platform possible for the team to perform.
Greg Coulson is holding both the chairman and secretary roles for the time being, “The club secretary role is a very important one for the club, it is important that we find someone who works well with the new committee and has the right skills to carry out the role,” he said.
The club will be advertising the role so that a new secretary can be introduced and learn the role for the remainder of this season.
• The quarter-final draw for the Wiltshire Senior Cup will be held on Thursday 23rd November. Next up for United is the home game this Saturday 25th November against promotion rivals Cheddar.
