Westbury Shed Growing Nicely

The League of Friends has been given “heartfelt thanks” by Westbury Shed chairman, Fred Beckett, on behalf of all Shed members, in accepting their recent generous donation.
Fred said, “We continue to promote all things Westbury, as has Westbury League of Friends over so many years. In comparison to them, we are a fledgling organisation, but we maintain the fight of positive health and wellbeing for our community at our workshop and allotment. Their generous support enables us to develop and grow our facility and support a greater number of members, whilst continuing true to our core values and ethos; supporting and enabling our local community.
“This generous donation has enabled us to fast track our next stage of development in expanding our current workshop premises to include a ‘quiet’ space where members can meet, chat over tea and biscuits and ‘set the world to rights’.
“Simple things such as these are sometimes more important than the ‘making and fixing’ activities which our members also enjoy. All these activities allow members to feel valued and provide them with an enhanced sense of worthiness and self-esteem, often reduced during retirement, ill-health or isolation.
“In the next three weeks Westbury Shed will be moving to larger premises on the LA Works site at Alfred Street, as we continue to plan and build a portable cabin at our future base at Grassacres.”
Fred is encouraging all members of the community to call in and see what Shed is about. Sessions are every Wednesday and Saturday Chestnut Grove allotment between 10am and 1pm and at Alfred Street between 2pm and 6pm.
