Dilton Marsh Flower and Handicraft Show, held last weekend, was a great success with more entries than previous years and more viewings of exhibits.
Liz Lee reports, “Fruit, vegetables, flowers, handicrafts, baking, preserves and photographs displayed the amazing talents in the village.
“The winners across all classes were: Derryn Wilkie, Brian Fitzsimons, Annie Wright, Chris Good, Sara Honor, Penny Birstingl, Eunice Stride, Clive Short, Maureen Flynn, Jenny Denton, Bob Lee, Angie Gibbs, Heather Burton, Students of Fairfield Farm College, Valerie Harding, Steven Bartlett, Martin Honor, Rosie Fitzsimons, Helen Jones, Sally Eposito, Mary Board, Helen Slay, Sue Stanley, Alma Ayre Wilkie, Olivia Prosser, William Gibbs, Rachel Law, Mia Froggatt, Pam Good, Alexander Noulls, Pat Nowell, Christopher Jefferies, Liz Lee, Priscilla Gray, Holy Trinity Flower Ladies, Three Amigos, Christine Laker, Sonja Harris.
“The John Irving Cup awarded for most points in fruit and vegetable classes was won by Chris Good. Maureen Flynn and Rosie Fitzsimons jointly won the Mead Nursery Cup awarded for the most points gained in the flower and floral art classes. The Joan Bracken Cup awarded for the most points gained in the cookery classes was won by Eunice Stride. Mary Board was awarded the Iris Hares Cup for the most points gained in the handicrafts classes.
“The Photography Cup awarded for the most points gained in the photography classes was won by Martin Honor. The WI Challenge Plate awarded for the best group entry was won by the Three Amigos. Eunice Stride was the winner of the Dilton Marsh Amateur Gardening Club Cup for gaining the most points overall. In the children’s section the paper plate depicting a clown’s face was won by Carlos Prosser, and the best colouring picture was won by Rachel Law.”
