Trustees from a village hall in Dilton Marsh have launched a fundraiser for urgent roof repairs.
Damage to the roof at Dilton Memorial Hall was uncovered while solar panels were being installed, and the issue is now causing water to seep into joists and plasterwork in the bathrooms and cleaner’s area.
“This was quite a surprise for us and obviously needs to be repaired as soon as possible,” said Jenny, a trustee at the hall.
The hall is a small charity and volunteers say the repairs will cost between £8,000 and £10,000. Trustees are now asking for donations to help cover the cost of repairing the roof, replastering damp walls and ceilings and redecorating.
Regular fundraising events such as the hall’s monthly film club and pop-up tabletop sale and coffee morning will continue, and a GoFundMe page has been set up to encourage wider support.
“We are trying to plan more fundraising events and will be extremely grateful for any funds raised either through the GoFundMe or the events that we arrange,” said Jenny.
The next film club will take place on Friday 20th February, when the live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon will be shown. The next coffee morning and tabletop sale will take place on Saturday 21st February.
