A MEMBER of Westbury Town Council, Sally Hendry, has resigned her position as representative of the Westbury East ward due to her wanting to concentrate on her other volunteer roles across the town.
Sally has been a town councillor for the last two years, co-opted to the Westbury East ward.
However, she has many other roles across the town working on a variety of projects.
Sally said, “I want to concentrate my time on other projects, especially Westbury Heritage Society and local history projects. I am currently working on two more projects, hoping at least one of them might make it into a book. They are taking lots of my time, but it’s very enjoyable.
“I am also involved with other volunteer work such as the Friends of Victoria Garden, a local residents group and the Westbury Heritage and Visitor Centre.
“I am currently chair of the Heritage Society and really want to work on building its profile and getting more people engaged in the town’s history.
“I will also continue to be a part of the council neighbourhood plan.
“I do feel sorry for departing the town council but I guess there’s just not enough hours in the day! I have really enjoyed my time on the council, working with great colleagues and staff.
“I think the council has transformed itself and is on course for a great future as an integral part of Westbury. I have particularly enjoyed working on projects such as the council newspaper, rights of way, events such as the Christmas switch-on and the summer fair, and planning.
“I hope to continue to work with the council on relevant heritage projects.”
