MEMBERS of the Eden Vale Angling Association (EVAA) have decided to dissolve the club.
Prior to the decision, the EVAA were responsible for operating the Eden Vale Lake at Station Approach opposite the railway station, issuing day and season tickets to people wanting to fish.
The dissolution of the club means that anyone fishing at the lake, which is owned by Linden Homes, will not be covered by the club’s insurance.
Former secretary of the club, Geoff Wells, explained to White Horse News, “At the recent Annual General Meeting of EVAA, which was well attended by some 40 to 50 members including officials and committee, a motion to dissolve the club was put forward and seconded by members of EVAA. This was voted on and unanimously agreed by those in attendance to dissolve the club.
“The reasons for this were as follows: The retirement of most of the officials due to age; The reluctance of members to fill these positions. (Nobody willing to takeover!); Falling membership, down by 40%.
“Will all ex-members and members of the public please note the following – anyone fishing Eden Vale Lake will not be covered for public liability by EVAA, which has been fully dissolved, or by Linden Homes, the owners of the lake.
“So anyone fishing at the lake does so at their own risk.”
