Live music returns!

AS the doors to the hospitality industry continue to open, Westbury musician and songwriter Leander Morales is among thousands of artists preparing to perform their first live shows in over a year.

Leander said, “I can’t begin to tell you how much we’re all collectively looking forward to performing live again! This is the longest period many of us have been away from performing a live show. The UK arts scene is a major contributor to the UK economy and I hope to see the nation supporting live music when it eventually returns to pubs, clubs, concert halls and outdoor spaces.”

Leander will be performing his first live show at The Three Horseshoes in Chapmanslade on Saturday 22nd May, choosing to support a pub located in the village he performed in when he was just 16.  He continues, “One of my first ever shows was held at Chapmanslade village hall. My friend and I booked out the hall in the summer holidays after leaving school. It was a stepping stone towards my life as a musician and event organiser. Since then I’ve been fortunate to have a memorable musical journey across the country and further afield.

“I love the idea of performing in a rural location, back to where this all started out. The Three Horseshoes is a great pub with a nice garden overlooking Corsley and Cley Hill. They have a great menu, a nice atmosphere and they are very supportive of live music. I’m really excited about performing.”

Leander will be performing a varied set of cover songs and his own material mixed into the set. He will also be joined by one or two additional performers on the night. He adds, “I’ve prepared a few unusual cover songs. Not everyone likes sitting through a set of original material in a pub scenario. I’ll be bringing a few classics to the table, whilst mixing in some of my own music. I think that’s a fair compromise to those who don’t want cover songs, and to those who do?!”

From New York’s ‘Bitter End’ in Greenwich Village through to London’s ‘Troubadour Club’, Glastonbury Festival, Wychwood and Boomtown Fair,  Leander Morales’s musical journey has seen take to the stage in the UK, Europe and USA.

Closer to home, Leander has opened shows for a diverse range of artists including The Stranglers, Seth Lakeman, Cara Dillon, Turin Brakes, Richie Havens, The Spencer Davis Group, Martha Tilston, Yardbirds, Tinariwen, 80s Pop icon ‘Martin Kemp’ and many others. A legacy spanning back to his mother’s roots as a touring folk artist from America, and his father, a rock n roll roadie. Expect something a little different than a solo singer/songwriter!

The event begins at 7pm and booking a table in advance is advised. You can book via info@threehorseshoes.uk.com; www.facebook.com/threehorseshoeschapmanslade ; or call: (01373) 832211
