Village comes together for flower and handicraft show

Visitors enjoyed more than 170 exhibits created by local people at the Dilton Marsh Flower and Handicraft Show. 

The annual event took place last month at Dilton Memorial Hall and featured 171 exhibits from local people and groups, alongside an auction of local produce. Displays ranged from floral arrangements and home-grown vegetables to handicrafts and baked goods. 

“It’s always a pleasure to step back and see the show come to life, with people admiring the hard work and creativity of others,” said chair of the flower show committee Angie Gibbs. 

“We were delighted to receive four group entries this year, with the theme of Time to Party proving that when families and friends work together, they can create something truly special. Little Marshians Baby and Toddler Group entered a wonderful group display, alongside a collection of delightful paper plate animals. It was lovely to see the imagination and creativity of our youngest exhibitors.” 

Trophies were awarded to exhibitors with the highest number of points in each section of the show. 

“The time, care and dedication that exhibitors put into preparing their entries is greatly appreciated,” said Angie. “As many of us know from entering ourselves, creating exhibits can sometimes take hours of hard work and we are grateful to everyone who took part.” 

“A huge thank you goes to everyone who supported this year’s show, our sponsors, exhibitors, judges and everyone who helped spread the word. Special thanks also go to Jocelyn Short for once again beautifully handwriting all of the certificates and to our auctioneer, Mr Jones, for keeping the auction entertaining and enjoyable. 

“Finally, heartfelt thanks go to our committee members and volunteers, who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes since October to organise another successful event for the village.”
