STANLEY BLACK & DECKER WORKING WITH FAIRFIELD FARM COLLEGE STUDENTS

FAIRFIELD Farm College, a college for young adults with learning disabilities based in Dilton Marsh, has recently started working with power tool and security technology giants Stanley Black & Decker.  

A spokesperson for the college explains, “The new venture has already seen a variety of exciting career-related projects undertaken across the college.  

“Students recently took part in a technology workshop hosted by Stanley Black & Decker where they learnt about working in the technology sector and the broad range of jobs available. As well as learning about employment options, they were also able to get ‘hands on’ learning about door access systems. The next step for students includes undertaking virtual work experience sessions, carrying out product testing and providing feedback. 

“Following on from the successful technology workshop, the Student Council took part in a Global Webinar with Stanley Black & Decker staff. This was an amazing opportunity to speak to an audience of 40 people based all over the world about the barriers to employment and the support that young disabled people need from employers.” 

Darren Barber, careers manager at Fairfield Farm College said, “Students have thoroughly enjoyed being part of the webinar and the technology workshop. The team at Stanley Black & Decker have been amazing to work with, and they are keen to offer even more experiences to students such as remote work experience, employer engagement, CV workshops and mock job interviews.”
