THE village of Corsley will be holding a Ceilidh Barn Dance, with a live band, to raise money for the radiotherapy team at Bath RUH, on Saturday 3rd September.
Ingeniously, the organisers will repurpose the main Horticultural and Craft marquee used at the Corsley Fayre, which is being held that afternoon on the Corsley Showfield, and transform it into a hand-clapping, toe-tapping, dance venue.
Alongside the live music, there will be a beer tent and delicious food for sale, making it the perfect way to while away a late summer’s evening with family or friends.
Money raised will be used to assist The Bath Cancer Unit Support Group (BCUSG) to buy state-of-the-art radiotherapy equipment that will revolutionise the treatment of cancer patients at the Royal United Hospital (RUH).
The current challenge is for this charity to raise £580,000 to purchase surface-guided radiotherapy technology (SGRT) systems. Surface-guided radiotherapy can track a patient’s position with pinpoint accuracy during treatment. This helps to ensure that radiation reaches exactly the right place while avoiding vital organs.
“Not only will this be a jolly end to the Summer, but your presence will also make a big difference to the one in two of us who are likely to be affected by cancer in our lifetime,” says the organisers.
The Corsely Ceilidh will be held on Saturday, 3rd September from 7:30pm -11:30pm at the Corsley Showfield. Ticket prices: Adults, £16. Children (U13), £10.
