LOCAL police are asking for anyone who has any information about the recent damage to the iconic White Horse, to come forward.
It was reported to the police that on Monday 1st August two initials were scrawled onto the White Horse – MH and SJ.
The local police say, “We have had a report of criminal damage on the Westbury White Horse, which is an English Heritage site. It is believed this took place between 6pm on August 1st and 1pm on August 2nd. If anyone has any information, please contact us on 101 quoting crime ref. 54220081189.”
A spokesperson from English Heritage, the body responsible for maintaining the cleaning of the landmark, said, “Westbury White Horse is an important and beautiful historic site, and we are really disappointed to learn of the recent damage.
“We are working with the local police to look into this matter – and we would ask the local community to help us all protect this local icon.”
