THE Dilton Marsh Memorial Hall was full to the brim on Saturday 28th January as over 80 people came down to enjoy a Big Breakfast.
Breakfasts ranged from a lite bite (£3) to the Big Diltonian (£8), and the organisers managed to raise £330 which will be donated the Westbury Area Network food bank.
Organisers say, “A great team of volunteers worked their socks off to set up, cook, take orders, serve, wash up and tidy away. Boo and Laura did the most amazing job in the kitchen, working calmly and methodically to keep up with the constant stream of customers and we managed to serve everyone in two hours.
“Huge thanks to them for taking a busman’s holiday on their precious Saturday morning off and to the other ten volunteers – a marvellous team effort!
“Unfortunately, we had to turn a few people away as we ran out of time and ingredients. As you can imagine, it’s difficult to estimate how much food to get in for a one-off occasion like this.
“A few people said that they did not know it was happening – a bit of a surprise as it was publicised in advance via the Parish Magazine (a great source of village information – do sign up to receive it if you don’t already), White Horse News, posters – and of course, Facebook.
“After deducting costs, there was a profit of £330, which will be donated to Westbury Food Bank. Thank you to everyone that supported the event, many of whom paid extra which has gone towards this donation. “The big question is will there be a next time? Hopefully yes, so watch this space.”
