13 MEMBERS of the Westbury Walkers, plus an ex-member who was on holiday from the Czech Republic, set out from Marshfield on an eight-mile walk led by Rob Hearnden, on Sunday 12th March.
The route took the group through West Littleton, a charming old village and on towards Dyrham. The first stretch was along quiet lanes with both up and down sections which was a warning of what was to come. After passing through the village a short detour was made off road for a coffee stop where the views were good in all directions.
After coffee the route continued across the A46 which was not the problem feared due to temporary traffic lights which made crossing easy and safe. An early lunch was taken on the Cotswold Way walk on the west side of Dyrham Park with views across towards Bristol and opposite a site of ancient Celtic cultivations now known as Strip Lynchets.
After lunch the walk went through Dyrham village following the Way before turning north up the slope and then eastwards back to Marshfield. A pleasant if testing walk that was enjoyed by all on a breezy but mild day.
