United won through to a home tie versus Oxford City of National League North (see below) with this hard-fought victory at Yate.
After snatching a late equaliser in the first match, the hosts scored first in the replay courtesy of Chris Zebroski’s goal.
Westbury drew level immediately with Ben Starr netting a wonderful left footer into the top corner.
The match took a turn in United’s favour midway through the second half when Town’s James Taylor saw red for a foul and Josh Jenkins netted from the penalty spot to put them ahead!
Yet again however Yate scored late to make it 2-2! This time Jack Karodogan was the scorer.
Into extra time and it was Jenkins who turned in a cross in the 102nd minute to win it for Westbury!
So it’s onto the 2nd Qualifying Round for the second season in a row, something that until last year had not been achieved for over 20 years!
The visitors on Saturday 13th September with a 3pm kick off will be Oxford City from two levels higher. This is a great opportunity for Westbury United Football Club!
Since taking over as Joint Managers five years ago Ricky Hulbert and Lewis Porter have made history, taking United into the Southern League and winning the Wiltshire Shield; can they achieve even more with this current team!?
