Saturday 21st February
Hartpury 1-0 Westbury United
Saturday 14th February
Malvern Town 2-2 Westbury United
Westbury United’s five game unbeaten run came to an end on Saturday with a narrow 1-0 defeat away at Hartpury.
The White Horse Men travelled to Gloucestershire in good form after three wins and an impressive draw at second placed Malvern.
But they faced a Hartpury side who themselves have hit a good streak with four straight wins and five wins in six games.
Nathan Jenkins scored the only goal of the game after just six minutes to clinch three points for the home side.
The previous Saturday, United earned an impressive point away at second placed Malvern and it could have been so much better.
The visitors took the lead through an own goal on 32 minutes before an equaliser on the stroke of half-time through Joseph Tumelty.
Josh Jenkins thought he had grabbed a late winner for Westbury on 83 minutes, firing home following a cross from Ben Starr but a Jordan Annear header in injury time levelled things up and Westbury returned from the West Midlands with a single point.
Westbury are still in the top ten though on 44 points from 29 games, with games in hand on the three teams above them.
They have a chance to put Saturday’s defeat behind them on Tuesday evening this week away at Sporting Club Inkberrow as WHN goes to press, with a home game against Willand Rovers to follow this Saturday.
• United’s Wiltshire FA Premier Shield semi-final against Swindon Town on Wednesday night, 11th February was postponed due to the weather. The new date is yet to be fixed but will be announced on the club’s Facebook page.
