Nature writer and Westbury Town Councillor Jane Russ, who has been producing wildlife books for over a decade, has written a new book on British wildlife.
Jane worked with photographer Frances Crickmore to produce the book, titled Frances Crickmore: British Wildlife Through My Lens.
The book features a range of wildlife photography accompanied by facts, poems and quotes. It also provides practical tips for those interested in sustainable living or documenting nature.
Chapter topics include hares, birds, insects, deer, water voles, foxes, squirrels and rabbits.
“It’s a really engaging book, it’s not just a coffee table book,” said Jane, who is also the author and series editor of the popular Nature Book series.
“I’ve known Frances for about 10 years and at least twice a year I’d say to her, ‘Frances, why don’t you do a book?’ and she’d always reply, ‘Oh no, I couldn’t do that.’ Then last year she messaged me and said, ‘I’ll do a book.’”
Broadcaster Emma Freud described the book as “actually perfect”. She said, “These astonishingly beautiful pictures, these loving descriptions and unexpected, mischievous poems have made me rethink our countryside.”
The book is available to buy online and from Waterstones, Blackwell’s, independent bookshops and from publishers Graffeg’s website at www.graffeg.com
