Recycling comes under the spotlight when Westbury area board meets next week.
People coming along to the meeting at Heywood village hall on 7th August will be able to get advice from recycling experts and hear about the latest plans to change the way garden waste is collected.
Low rates of recycling in the Westbury area were raised in the recent Joint Strategic Assessment – a comprehensive overview of statistics for the area including everything from wellbeing and life expectancy through to arts and leisure.
Westbury area was highlighted as being low recyclers so the area board has pledged to tackle awareness – starting with a well attended stall at the recent town centre street fair and following up with an information stand at the meeting, – when people will be able to see the alternatives to wheelie bins such as bags and baskets.
Health and wellbeing will also be in the news with information about Wiltshire Council’s new health trainer scheme – where local people can get one to one advice from specialists.
People attending the meeting will also be able to hear the latest on highway improvements, changes to the way services for young people are provided and find out more about getting funding for community projects.
The meeting starts at 7.00pm but from 6.30pm there will be refreshments and a chance to chat to recycling experts and health trainers.
