Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted burglary in Westbury.
The incident took place shortly before 3.00pm on Monday 25th August in Dilton Marsh.
An unknown male knocked at the home address of a disabled female and, once the door was opened, forced entry into the property. The occupant – who is a wheelchair user – was knocked over and activated her personal alarm. The male then immediately left the property.
The male has been described as white, 5ft 9ins, in his late 20s to early 30s and of stocky build. He was wearing a hooded waterproof jacket and jeans. Inspector Alan Webb said, “Incidents such as this are rare but I would take this opportunity to remind people to always keep their doors shut and locked. If someone comes to your door and you aren’t expecting a caller, it is important that you check who it is by using a spy-hole or looking through a window first.
“Do not open the door to anyone you don’t know or are not expecting. If you see anything suspicious or think a bogus caller may have called at your door, report it to the police immediately by calling 999.”
