FOLLOWING the easing of Covid-19 restrictions, 17 local children have recently made their promise and finally been invested as Beaver Scouts in the 1st Westbury (Cyril’s Own) Scout Group at Jubilee Wood.
Assistant Beaver Scout leader Diane Perrett said, “Some have been with us, taking part in Zoom meetings, since December, and in face-to-face meetings since Easter. We were finally able to meet together and allow families (all socially distanced) to watch the boys and girls as they made their promises. We also celebrated one Beaver achieving his Bronze Scout Award, the highest badge you can get in the Beaver section and moving onto the Cub section.
“We are looking forward to the rest of the term with a hike planned, some fire lighting and cooking, tent pitching, some adventurous activities and a visit to the local church. It is great to be back helping the Beavers learning skills for life.”
