Dilton Marsh Village Day & Summer Fayre was held at the Holy Trinity Churchyard and Dilton Marsh Primary School on Saturday 14th June.
Judging of the Carnival Royal Family took place at the school. Caroline South age 5 from Dilton Marsh was chosen as the Butterfly Princess and Milly Tackle age 9 from Westbury Leigh was chosen as the Princess.
Kathy Hutt, chair of Dilton Marsh Carnival Committee said, “The judges found it very difficult to choose as all the entrants were fantastic.”
There were also crafts for sale, skittles, a cake stall, raffle, football tombola, games and refreshments.
Each class ran a different ‘business’. Chestnut class did face painting and sock hedgehogs; ash class sold chocolate mustaches, clay lizards, jewellery and gifts; oak/willow class sold sweets and decoupage coasters; beech class sold planters, plants and books; lime class organised games and sold painted tiles and Phoenix cards; and cherry class sold cakes and sweets.
At Holy Trinity Church, there were a variety of stalls including Cats Protection and Traidcraft and those selling plants, goods and food.
There was a pot-a-poo stall where people paid to throw fake poo into toilets to raise money so the church can install a toilet. It was also possible to take trips up the church’s bell tower.
