YEAR 6 pupils from Bitham Brook Primary School recently took a trip to London to spend a day in the Houses of Parliament to learn more about democracy and to meet the local MP Andrew Murrison.
The school said, “During the trip, the children had the opportunity to explore the magnificent building and learn about our democracy through a law and debating workshop. They actively participated in discussions and gained a better understanding of how our country’s laws are made and debated.
“One of the highlights of the day was when the children had the privilege of sitting in the gallery to witness a live debate in the House of Commons. It was an incredible moment for them to see our elected representatives in action and understand the importance of our democratic process.
“We were also incredibly fortunate to have our local member of Parliament, Andrew Murrison, visit and personally greet the children. His presence added to the significance of the trip and provided an excellent opportunity for the children to engage with a real-life politician.”
