West Wilts Youth Sailing Association’s Adult Sailing Class has finished and newly qualified sailers are now ready for a summer on the water.
WWYSA decided to run the Adult Sailing Course in the spring this year so candidates could put into practice their new skills during the summertime.
Volunteer Emily Abbott said, “Starting with 12 very willing, the candidates gained several new skills over the four Saturdays. We continued in all sorts of weathers and hope everyone is looking forward to practicing their new hobby more. The physical nature of the course meant a couple of our starters had to drop out unfortunately but they are welcome lakeside anytime.
“The course topics include rigging your boat, launching, capsizing, sailing in different wind conditions and directions, essential safety knowledge, rights of way. It is hoped that everyone who completed the course is now able to sail well and make safe decisions.
“The course has proven so popular it is being considered for a repeat run in the early autumn, if you would like to be kept informed about this please email adults@wwysa.org.uk ”
