A Westbury charity shop is gathering hundreds of its best books for a special sale this month.
Barnardo’s has been amassing an impressive collection of titles which will be displayed outside the Palomino Place store throughout Wednesday August 14th.
The event, from 9am-5pm, will see all hardbacks and paperbacks for sale at the bargain price of three for £1.
All profits will support the charity’s work with vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.
Barnardo’s is still keen to receive donations ahead of the event, including fiction, biographies, children’s books, cookbooks and many more.
Store manager Kayla Smith said, “This is the first time we’ve organised a book sale of this size, but we hope it will be a huge success.
“We’ve got so many titles to offer that we’ll be selling from tables outside the front door if the weather is nice, but if it’s raining, we’ll simply move everything inside and create a dedicated space for people to browse.
“Current donations include autobiographies from Stephen Fry, Lee Evans, Peter Kay, Peter Andre, Alan Titchmarsh and Richard Hammond, as well as stories by Joanna Trollope, Catherine Cookson, Sophie Kinsella, Ian Rankin, Jack Higgins, James Patterson, Ian McEwen and Stephen King.
“We also have lots of cookbooks by Jamie Oliver, Mary Berry, Gary Rhodes, Rick Stein and James Martin, and a nice selection of children’s books too – there should be something for everyone!”
Other offers will include three CDs and DVDs for £1, and refurbished CDs and DVDs for £1.99 each or three for £4.99.
The Barnardo’s store is open Monday-Saturday from 9am-5pm and always welcomes donations of good-quality clothes, books, toys, games, CDs, DVDS, accessories and bric-a-brac, as well as offers of help from potential volunteers of all ages and backgrounds. Call (01373) 822515.
