Meadow Lane will get to see its first bit of action since March as the pre-season friendlies kick off against Toolstation Western League Division One team Radstock Town and Saturday (8th August).
Westbury United’s club chairperson Greg Coulson told White Horse News, “Unfortunately current government guidelines do not allow spectators to attend pre-season friendlies, so for the time being they will be behind closed doors.
“New managers Lewis Porter and Ricky Hulbert have put together a tough pre-season schedule for the squad, the highlights being a trip to Southern League Division One South team Willand Rovers on 15th August, a visit from local rivals Warminster Town on 22nd August and the final pre-season friendly away to last season’s FA Cup rivals Badshot Lea.
“The reserves are also planning a couple of home friendlies at Meadow Lane, details will be announced on our social media channels.
“Behind the scenes the club are working hard to ensure that they are compliant with all government guidelines when spectators are finally allowed to visit, they have appointed a Covid-19 working party to meet regularly and update themselves on any changes to the guidelines. They have put in place plans to assist with the NHS Track and Trace system, along with marking around the ground to make sure social distancing is adhered to and installing plenty of hand sanitiser stations, the aim is to be ready as soon as possible to allow spectators to come and watch again.
“Westbury United are looking for a new sponsor for their main stand, if any local businesses are interested please contact me, club chairperson Greg Coulson, on chairman@westbruyunited.co.uk.
“If a sponsor cannot be found the club will be hosting a raffle, local businesses can enter the draw for a small fee to have their name drawn out of the hat and become the main stand sponsor.
“The sponsorship package comes with free advertising in all Home match day programmes, on all of our social media channels and the website. Both the first team and reserve team will have their squad photos taken in from of the stand, therefore the name and logo of the sponsor will be on every official squad image that is produced in the 2020-21 season.”
