It’s a 1st Dan Black Belt for retired businessman Martin Killian who took up Martial Arts in May 2012, which in turn helped him shed four stones and beat diabetes.
Martin who lives in Edington with wife, Sarah, has not been insulin dependent since starting his training programme at Westbury Black Belt Zone Fitness Academy.
The retired managing director trains four times a week at the Academy in Westbury.
Martin states that, “The commitment to martial arts brought about a massive personal change to the way I live my life. A Black Belt simply holds your suit in place. Being a Black Belt is an attitude, a state of mind, a way of life.
“Anyone can buy a Black Belt; it takes years of learning, sweat, hard work and introspection to create one!”
Martin trains under Master Tony Preston at the Westbury Black Belt Zone Fitness Academy.
“The Tamashii programme that Martin now follows and trains in is a unique martial art incorporating Shotokan Karate – Shotokan Katas – Korean Kick Boxing and Combat Judo and also incorporates meditation and interval training,” explained Tony.
“Anything that can reverse diabetes and sustain a healthier life style has got to be better than good – it’s got to be great.
“Martin has totally transformed his life for the better, through his dedication to Martial Arts training, it has reversed his insulin dependence and he has become physically much fitter and mentally much sharper.”
