Westbury’s long-running book dealership, Zardoz Books & Records, is hosting an Open Day and Bookfair on Sunday 5th October from 11am to 4pm at its Mill Lane unit in Hawkeridge.
The event promises something for every collector and enthusiast, with thousands of £1 books, vinyl LPs, CDs, DVDs and Blu-rays, plus a wide range of music and TV memorabilia, posters, artwork and collectible toys.
Zardoz has been a well-known name in the world of vintage paperbacks for over 30 years, specialising in science fiction, mystery and classic Penguin and Pan editions. But since moving into their spacious new unit last year, the team has expanded their stock to include music, movies and pop culture treasures.
“We had over 100 visitors at our last fair,” said owner Maurice Flanagan. “This time, we have far more stock and an even greater variety.
“We have operated as Zardoz Books for over 30 years, initially with vintage paperbacks via mail order from our Westbury warehouse and then via our own website as well as Amazon, ABE, Biblio and Alibris.
“But since moving into our new unit, we have branched out considerably into music, movie media, artwork and toys. In addition to direct sales from our unit, we also now sell using Discogs, eBay and the occasional fair which gives people the chance to come along and see what we’ve got on offer.
“There will be other dealers, and besides our £1 books, there will be thousands of vinyl LPs, CDs, DVDs and Blu-rays. We also have a good stock of music and TV-related memorabilia, posters, toys etc and many will make ideal gifts.”
The Open Day and Bookfair is on Sunday 5th October 11am to 4pm while the unit is open 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday with possible Saturday openings in the run up to Christmas if there is demand. In addition to in-person sales, Zardoz also trades online via their website and platforms such as Amazon, ABE, Biblio, Alibris, Discogs and eBay.
As part of their commitment to being an eco-friendly business, Zardoz encourages recycling. They invite residents to drop off used or unused cardboard, bubble wrap and padded envelopes in the large black box outside the unit for reuse. In return, the team is leaving a selection of free DVDs and CDs outside during weekday opening hours, thanks to a recent acquisition of stock from another local media company.
