THE results are in for last month’s Bratton Hilly Run which over 100 runners took part in.
The course record of 40:42 that has stood since 2008 was smashed this year by Sam Pictor, the son of one of the races founders. Sam reduced the record time to 39:40.
Sam was followed home by Oliver Andrews from Devizes in a time of 42:37, and in third place was James Sharland (46:12).
The women’s race was won by Jo Mumford of Avon Valley Runners, who was running the race for the first time, finishing in 53:33. Following home Jo, was veteran of the race and former winner, Dianne Hier (also of Avon Valley Runners) in 55:05. The third place was claimed by Claire Pictor, wife of Sam the male winner, in 56:14.
The veteran prizes went to Danny Gard (Avon Valley Runners), male vet 40 in 46:24. Bratton resident Bob Salter won the male vet 50 category in 49:28 and the male vet 60 category was won by Garhame Reed in 60:09.
Liz Gard (Avon Valley Runners) made it a family affair by winning the female vet 35 category in 59:47. The female vet 45 category was won by race winner Jo Mumford and the final vet category, the female vet 55 was won by Alison Graham of Corsham Running Club in 56:20.
Both of the team prizes went to Avon Valley Runners. The men were Danny Gard, Adam Robbins, Richard Hudson and Bob Ellis. The ladies were, Jo Mumford, Dianne Hier, Leah Sartain and Liz Gard.
The shield for the first Bratton resident to finish went to Oliver Case, who was running for the first time, in a time of 47:10. Whilst the shield for the first associate of Bratton school was won by teacher Neil Towers (Chippenham Harriers), in a time of 52:43.
A final surprise presentation was made. One of the race founders, Trevor Pictor, made a special presentation to race director Simon Reeves to mark the fact that he had completed the race for the 20th time. The only person to have run in all of the races.
