BRATTON is hosting their ‘Open Gardens’ event on Sunday 10th June, inviting you to visit 14 gardens in the village to raise money for the Bratton Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and The Friends of St James’.
Bratton’s gardens will offer a variety of styles and sizes, some with lovely views. The Westbury White Horse and the earthworks of Bratton Castle Iron Age hill fort are both in Bratton parish.
Tony and Felicity Hyde, Court Lane Farm, Bratton as part of this village event have designed a tribute to two young men from their farm who were killed in WW1. The theme is peaceful farming into war in the trenches and some of the tools incorporated may have been used by the men.
The event begins at 11.30am and finishes at 5pm. Teas, coffees, soft drinks and cakes will be on sale at Ivy Cottage, Lower Road and soft drinks and ice creams at Luccombe Terrace throughout the event. Lunch and Pimm’s in the garden are available at The Duke public house between 12 – 2pm.
Tickets are available on the day at The Duke between 11.00am – 4pm, £5 per person, accompanied children free. (No dogs please) full details can be found at www.opengardens .co.uk
