WESTBURY’S branch of the Royal British Legion is appealing for more people from the town and surrounding villages to join.
The legion branch meet on the first Monday of every month at the Conservative Club on Alfred Street.
Chairman Eddie Bridges said, “We’d like to welcome all service and ex-service personnel and their families to join the Royal British Legion in the town.
“People from Westbury and all surrounding villages are welcome. The idea of the British Legion is to offer help, support, and community to those who have served in the forces themselves, or come from a military family.
“I served for 25 years myself, and have been on the legion committee since our branch started 34 years ago. We have roughly 35 members now, some of whom are more involved than others. Being a member doesn’t mean you have to attend every meeting and be involved with everything we do, but it means we can be here for you if you need us.”
The Royal British Legion in Westbury raised a record £7,428 from last year’s Poppy Appeal, and regularly hold fundraising stalls at the street fayre and other local events.
