RESIDENTS of Westbury North are being encouraged to cast their votes in the upcoming Wiltshire Council unitary by-elections.
A by-election is to be held on Thursday 18th July for a new unitary Wiltshire councillor for Westbury North following the recent resignation of David Jenkins, who stood down due to ill health.
The five candidates are: Ian Cunningham – Independent, Carole King – Liberal Democrats, Francis Morland – Independent, Antonio Piazza – Conservative and Jane Russ – Labour.
Voting will take place on Thursday 18th July between the hours of 7am and 10pm.
The successful candidate will take their place as one of 98 unitary Wiltshire councillors, responsible for decision-making that affects Wiltshire residents’ daily lives.
Carlton Brand, Wiltshire’s returning officer said, “I hope registered voters in this area get out and have their say. A councillor has a big impact on the area they represent and plays a key role in the decisions made by Wiltshire Council and the money it spends; these decisions affect every member of our communities.
“As returning officer for Wiltshire, I want the county be as democratically healthy as possible, and a good turnout and an engaged electorate will be reflective of that.”
