WESTBURY United are looking to grow their committee members, with a number of voluntary roles available, to help support the town’s local football club.
The club is hoping to relieve pressure on some of its current members and varied roles are available to suit everyone of all ages.
Westbury United is currently sitting second in the Toolstation Western League premier division, having been promoted last season. They are hoping to continue their success, in the hope of further promotion.
Chairman, Greg Coulson said, “We have opportunities for anyone who would like to come and help their local football team and has a couple of hours per week spare.
“We have various roles available, they can be carried out individually or if you have enough time, one person could fill several.
“These roles are suitable for anyone from a student through to the retired. Whether it’s CV development, meeting new people or a chance to join an ambitious sports team, we have roles to suit everyone.
“A volunteer could be a passionate sports fan, friend of a player or simply a member of the public wanting to give back to the community.
“It can be a great way to make friends, build relationships and become a part of the grassroots sporting experience
“As the first team are doing so well in the league, there is a real possibility that we could be promoted to the Southern League Division One, to join teams like Melksham, Paulton Rovers and Highworth Town. Our current committee is fairly small, so to stop the club structure from preventing the progress on the pitch, we need some more volunteers.
“Here’s a quick list of roles, it isn’t a finite list as we have other roles, but these are the primary ones that we’d like to get filled.
“Discipline secretary, match day secretary, programme officer, kit and equipment officer, sponsorship and fundraising officer, community officer and match day officer.
“Some of the roles don’t require the person to attend matches, so it’s not just football fans that can help. We’re after people who are self motivated, can work under their own initiative and can work as part of a team.
“All roles will be mentored to slowly introduce them, with a plan for them to be up to speed by the end of this season and raring to go next season.”
If you would like to register your interest for one of the roles, for more information or to discuss how else you could help, contact the club on secretary@ westbury united.co.uk.
