A Family pirate-themed charity fun day, organised by Rotary and Inner Wheel Clubs of Westbury, will be held at the marquee and garden of the Horse and Groom, Alfred Street, Westbury, on Saturday 20th July from 12.00pm to 5.00pm.
Organisers say, “The event will be opened by the town mayor, and the town crier will be in attendance. Entry is free.
All profits go to Guide Dogs for the Blind. The event, which is organised by Rotary and Inner Wheel Clubs of Westbury charitable trust, is sponsored by Specsavers.
“Attractions include blindfold skittles, quoits, face painting, panning for gold, a treasure map competition, pin the tail on the donkey and pin the horn on the unicorn, wellie wanging and other attractions including a chance to meet a guide dog and trainers, including local representative Hilary Reed.
“The Horse and Groom bar is open as normal throughout and food is available from the pub.
“An added attraction is a ‘Silent Auction’ with prizes donated by many local traders and individuals. Who would not want the chance of picking up a bargain whilst donating to charity, whether it be a stay in a Bath holiday cottage or a Bath Rugby shirt signed by the players circa 2008 or a gin schnapps and whisky tasting for four people?!
“Bids may be made on the day or even by email beforehand if you contact one of the event organisers – David Pike on 01380 830055 who will email you a full list. Winners will be contacted on or shortly after the event day. Please also look out for details on Facebook and Twitter.
“Rotary President, Sue Ezra, and Inner Wheel President, Linda Eaglesham, would like to thank schools and businesses in the area for publicising and especially the Horse and Groom for supporting this event and Fine Signs for kindly donating the advertising banner.
“Please note that car parking at the venue is limited, so use of the town’s car parks is advised.”
