WESTBURY Swimming Pool is taking part in this year’s Swimathon, helping to raise money for Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie.
Hailed as the ‘world’s largest annual fundraising swim’, Westbury swimmers are being encouraged to join 20,000 other swimmers at 600 pools across the country for the charity challenge over the weekend of Friday 27th March to Sunday 29th March.
There is a challenge for all swimming abilities. Individuals can choose from a number of challenges, including 400m, 1.5km, 2.5km, 5km or the triple 5km.
Or if people prefer to swim in teams, groups of two to five people are welcome to form a relay squad, and take part in the 1.5km or 5km challenge, sharing the lengths of the pool between them.
Money raised will go to Cancer Research UK – the charity that fund scientists, doctors and nurses to help beat cancer sooner; and Marie Curie – the charity that offers care and support to people who are terminally ill.
An organised Swimathon session at Westbury Swimming Pool, Church Street, takes place on Sunday 29th March, 2.30pm to 5.30pm.
