A LOCAL author will be reading to primary school pupils in Westbury soon and launching her new book at the town’s Christmas fayre on 3rd December.
Rosie Evitt, a children’s author from Yarnbrook, will be visiting local schools with her book ‘Hannah’s Tree’ after successfully reading it to pupils for the first time in Trowbridge earlier this year.
She will also be holding a stand at Westbury’s Christmas Fayre next month with Trowbridge writer Wafaa Powell, where Rosie will launch her newest story ‘Tiny Tails’.
Rosie said, “I really enjoyed reading to the children. I had never done it before and was so nervous looking out at the sea of little faces, but they gave me such a warm reception.
“They were so attentive and gave me reviews and critique! We talked about their own creative aspirations and some of them had already been writing so I gave them some tips.
“The children gave me some help with my new series, ‘Tiny Tails’, by voting for me to spell it ‘tails’ and not ‘tales’. I had a lot more fun with them than I expected.”
Rosie’s latest work – the first in the Tiny Tails series – will be launched at the Westbury Christmas Fayre and follows adventures of a fictional dog, Tiny, named after her own pet.
The book was illustrated by a local artist, 17 year-old Issy Humphrey.
“Tiny has given us such pleasure I thought it would be lovely to write about her in the fantasy genre!” Rosie says. The first story takes the reader through all the usual challenges for a puppy, plus the fun and love within her family, human and canine.
“Issy is a talented illustrator and her interpretation of my texts has been a joy!”
