Over 60 visitors came to see one of the few Chinese gardens in England – at Beggars Knoll in Newtown, Westbury on Saturday 21st June.
The garden was opened by owners Colin Little and Penny Stirling in a joint fund raising event for Macmillan Cancer Support and the National Garden Scheme.
After a pleasurable stroll around the garden, visitors were able to enjoy tea and cakes on the lawn as well as browse the plant and craft stalls. The Tombola was also very popular and included prizes donated by Lakeside Garden Centre and Champion Chinese Restaurant.
Speaking on behalf of the Macmillan Cancer Support Committee, chairman Sue Harding said, “We have had a wonderful afternoon with glorious weather. Everyone has commented on the beauty and peacefulness of the garden and its setting. We are grateful to all who supported us in any way and especially to Colin and Penny for enabling us to hold this event here.”
The event raised £534.50 and will be shared between Macmillan and NGS.
