There is a busy period ahead for members of Westbury Choral Society.
Under its conductor Luke Pickett, and with new accompanist Rob Danter and several new singers, the choir is well into rehearsals for its Christmas Concert, ‘Christmas around the World’ on Friday 18th December at Westbury Methodist Church, commencing at 7.30pm.
The programme will comprise carols from various countries, several arranged by John Rutter including his own ‘Jesus Child’ and ‘What Sweeter Music’. There will also be readings and audience carols.
Tickets for the concert are £7 (accompanied children free) and will be available from Westbury Information Centre, from members or on the door.
The following day the choir has once again been invited to support the annual Carol Festival at Imber, while on Thursday 10th December it will take part in a Carol Service at West Wilts Crematorium. Members will also entertain residents and friends at ‘Watersmead’ prior to Christmas.
Following the Christmas break the choir will start rehearsals for its Spring Concert, when the main works will be Vivaldi’s Gloria and John Rutter’s popular Requiem. A workshop on the Rutter, open to all, will be held on Saturday 16th January at Westbury Methodist Church.
