WESTBURY Lions Christmas Float raised over £7,600 during the festive period which will be used to support groups and projects in the local community.
Santa took to the streets alongside volunteer collectors, despite the snow, rain, and wind, to ensure that children got a glimpse of Santa and a chance to post their ever-important letters.
“That’s a wrap for this year’s Santa Float around the streets of Westbury!” said the Lions. “A massive thank you to everyone who donated and supported this year’s appeal.
“Thank you to Platinum SsangYong for lending us the towing vehicle and thank you to Bratton Silver Band and the local schools of Westbury Infants, Chapmanslade, Bitham Brook and Matravers who provided our soundtrack.
“The volunteers involved covered on foot over 75 miles of streets and driveways over the 19 nights. Approx 35 tubs of donated sweets were distributed. 116 letters were received for Santa. 40 volunteers were involved.”
Volunteers were also stationed outside Morrisons to collect for the float on Christmas Eve.
