More than 40 people attended the Come and Sing Workshop on 14th June which was led by Grenville Jones, well known as the conductor of several local choirs and as founder of the Golden Oldies charity.
After a brief introduction, Grenville presented the workshop with four unfamiliar songs which under his unique and enthusiastic direction were learnt to performance standard in under two hours, and later sung at the evening concert.
In the evening those who had taken part in the workshop were joined by a large audience for a concert by members of Bath Male Choir which Grenville directs, and will be remembered as progressing to the latter stages of BBC’s ‘Last Choir Standing’.
The choir sang a variety of numbers including ‘If I only had Love’ and ‘I Believe’ thrilling the audience with the wall of sound for which Bath Male Choir is famous.
Westbury Choral’s new term starts on Wednesday 3rd September when the choir will be polishing some material for a concert ‘Encore’ to be held at Westbury Methodist Church on 2nd September, with special guests Upavon Military Wives Choir, as well as starting rehearsals for its Christmas Concert which will include movements from Benjamin Britten’s ‘Ceremony of Carols’ and other seasonal pieces.
New members are always welcome. No auditions are required.
