THE Memorial Theatre has a busy line-up of music and entertainment for the coming months.

Friday 28th February 7.30pm. An opportunity to experience, live on stage, one of Rock’n’Roll’s original pioneers. Marty Wilde, whose career began in 1957, was amongst the very first British singers to play a leading role in the early formative and groundbreaking Rock’n’Roll years. He is also one of the few still performing in the world today.

Playing his many hits – combined with a host of magical songs from that wonderful era – Marty and his fabulous band, The Wildcats, will take you on a trip down Memory Lane and guide you through some of the most exciting musical periods that this country has ever experienced.

A fantastic evening awaits all ages! Enjoy this musical roller coaster of a show, which has become one of the most acclaimed on the circuit today. £25.

Saturday 7th March 8pm – Joel Dommett – Unapologetic (If That’s Okay?) Join Joel as he brings you bang up to date on his life since his last live show! He has become a regular face on TV, from being a finalist in 2016’s I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! (ITV), to then hosting ITV2’s I’m a Celebrity Extra Camp alongside Scarlett Moffatt and Joe Swash. He starred in two series of the critically-acclaimed Comedy Central show Joel and Nish VS the World, is the co-host of ITV2’s new dating show Singletown and he’s the presenter of the new Saturday Night ITV international smash The Masked Singer.

The start of 2019 saw Joel release a 30-minute stand-up special for Netflix as part of a global comedy event Comedians of the World. He has also achieved a place on the Sunday Times’ Bestseller list with his book It’s Not Me It’s Them which was recently released in paperback.

14+ (Parental guidance) Likely to be swearing and adult content.

Saturday 14th March 7.30pm – The Band of HM Royal Marines. In 2020 the Frome Royal Naval Association celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Royal Marines Band concerts at the Memorial Theatre.

Organisers say, “This fundraising event has supported various activities in the area including local Sea Cadet unit TS Achilles. This has been possible because of the vision and hard work of one man, Shipmate Ken Ring; we are determined to continue with the gift he left behind.

“We invite the people of Frome who have supported us over the last 24 years to join us again and bring along a friend to experience this wonderful evening of music, pomp and humour.” Tickets £18.

Friday 3rd April 8pm – Rich Hall’s Hoedown Deluxe. Rich Hall’s comedy/music locomotive keeps on rollin’. Ever-evolving, ever-changing, Rich’s combination of keen acerbic stand-up combined with spit and sawdust alt-country lyricism is a “win-win” (Guardian), as sold out crowds across the UK have attested. Fans keep returning because this show goes where other comedians wouldn’t dare: Barrow-in-Furness for example.

Rich’s acclaimed BBC4 documentaries (most recently Rich Hall’s Red Menace) and his Radio 4 series Election Breakdown have established a whole new legion of followers. He’s also a stalwart of QI and Have I Got News For You. But seeing the Hoedown is a whole different experience. Gut-busting, rib-tickling, toe-tapping, and muck-kicking, Rich Hall’s Hoedown Deluxe covers the full anatomical spectrum.

Strictly 14 years plus – Parental Guidance, likely to be swearing and adult content. Tickets £17.

Saturday 18th April 7.30pm – The History of Rock. The History of Rock is a celebration of rock music through the decades. A jaw dropping night transporting you through the golden ages of rock! Featuring the music of artists such as Led Zeppelin, Cream, Guns n Roses, AC/DC, Queen and many more.

Rediscover the seeds of rock & roll in the 1950s, the birth of rock in the 60s, right through to the classic rock of the 70s and 80s.

A must see for any fan of rock! Experience this iconic music brought back to life by an exceptional 8-piece band consisting of some of the finest musicians and performers from around the world, original visual footage of the featured bands and artists, as well as incredible concert staging and lighting. Relive the greatest Rock songs of all time with The History of Rock. Tickets £21.
