A local arts group has raised £190 for Blood Cancer UK after bringing members together for a morning of art, coffee and conversation in Westbury.
Fearless & Fun, run by Kim Heath, hosted the special session at its studio in Warminster Road after conversations among members about how blood cancer has recently touched friends and families in the community.
“Cancer touches the lives of so many people, and for members of the group, blood cancer has recently felt particularly close to home,” said Kim, who organised the event.
“The result was a special Fearless & Fun morning held in aid of Blood Cancer UK.
“Members came together to enjoy coffee, cake and a little creativity, making their own simple but beautiful coasters to take home. For some, these will become a special everyday reminder of someone they have lost or someone affected by blood cancer.
“There was plenty of laughter and conversation too, with everyone enjoying the chance to get creative, relax and spend time together. The morning raised an amazing £190 for Blood Cancer UK, thanks to the generosity of everyone who took part and donated.”
The charity funds research and support for people affected by leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and other blood cancers.
Kim said the event captured the spirit of Fearless & Fun, which is designed for all abilities.
“It isn’t about being an artist or knowing how to paint,” she said. “It’s about having a go, enjoying some creative time, meeting people, chatting over coffee and cake, and giving yourself a little time for your own wellbeing.”
The group meets at Haynes House, 24 Warminster Road, Westbury, and welcomes newcomers with no previous art experience.
Anyone interested in joining future sessions can contact Kim on 07921 805006.
