Conservative win in Police and Crime Commissioner election

THE Conservative candidate for the Wiltshire and Swindon Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) election has been re-elected. 

Philip Wilkinson was elected with 38,578 votes following the election on Thursday 2nd May. 

The results were: 

• Philip Wilkinson (Conservative and Unionist Party) – 38,578 

• Stanka Adamcova (Labour and Co-operative Party) – 36,345 

• Mike Rees (Independent) – 29,035 

• Alan Hagger (Liberal Democrats) – 20,485 

The election saw a turnout of 22.72% across Wiltshire and Swindon with 125,927 verified votes cast in total. 52,343 verified votes were cast in the Swindon local authority area (out of an electorate of 167,521) and 73,584 in the Wiltshire local authority area (out of an electorate of 386,384).

Terence Herbert, police area returning officer for Wiltshire, said, “Congratulations to Philip Wilkinson on being re-elected as Wiltshire PCC. 

“I’d like to thank everyone for coming out to vote, and to my staff and everyone involved for their professionalism in running such a smooth election.”  

Wiltshire chief constable Catherine Roper said, “I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate Philip Wilkinson on being re-elected as the PCC for Wiltshire and Swindon.  

“I look forward to continuing to work with the PCC and his team to deliver his Police and Crime Plan, and ensure that together we are ‘Keeping Wiltshire Safe’.”
