Continuing success for local accountant

Accountant Sam Gooding has gone from strength to strength in recent months since becoming his own boss.

Sam, 37, started Gooding Accounts in July last year after working at an accountancy firm in Trowbridge for a number of years. He has recently taken on a student from Trowbridge College and may soon even have to look for a larger office.

Sam said, “I’m amazed with how well it has gone in the last ten months. I originally started working from home but quickly outgrew it and realised I needed more space, and now I probably need more space again!

“Leaving my job and putting everything into my own business was a daunting prospect, but I haven’t regretted it for a second.

“We provide a full array of accountancy services and try to deliver a personal service meeting every client’s needs. One of the factors that sets me apart from my competitors is the flexibility I provide; I’m happy to meet people daytime, evenings,  or weekends at my office or their home.

“Meeting and helping people is probably the best part of my job, and I believe in going out of my way to deliver a service people can appreciate. As a result we get a lot of good complimentary feedback and word of mouth recommendations .

“The company ethos is to provide a personal quality service, offering good communication and availability whilst not charging a fortune.

“The customer base is continuing to grow and we deal with all individuals, businesses and limited companies.

“I am committed to being a local accountant – there are a large number of accountants in Trowbridge and Warminster, but not Westbury, so it was an ideal opportunity for me and I plan to stay loyal to the area”

Sam also recently showed his charitable side and hosted a race night in October which raised £2,023 for the Bath Cancer Unit Support Group. He will be repeating the event this year.

His new employee, Olivia Andrews, will soon be taking the final exams for her AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualification, bringing Gooding Accounts to a total of three fully qualified members.

Gooding Accounts is based at Courtleigh House in Westbury Leigh. To find out more  about their services go to www.goodingaccounts.co.uk or call 01373 228240.
